Focusing in New Zealand – Creating Community And Connection

Facilitated with my supervisor Heather Roger’s discussed the difficulty and our desire to see much more of a Focusing Community in Australia and New Zealand but because we are separated by huge distances we meet rarely. Also given that the Focusing Institute is based in New York it really is the worst time in the middle of the night for online community events and trainings take place.

But it is a good time to change this around, especially in Auckland where the 14th International Conference of the World Association for Person-Centered and Experiential Psychotherapy & Counseling, to be held at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), in Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand. Only the second the time that the PCE Conference has been held in the Southern hemisphere.   My professor Robert Elliott will be coming all the way from Scotland and the pre-conference will be at Nga Wai o Horotiu (AUT Marae) so it will be a meeting of two worlds for me in particular https://www.pce2020.com/preconference-workshop-information

Amongst other Focusers at the conference will be Akira Ikemi, one of my teachers travelling from Kansei University, Japan, to present both at the conference itself and at a Pre-conference event. Hopefully with this level of international will bring an opportunity to begin again a Focusing group in Auckland. Please contact me if you are interested in starting to learn to practice Focusing for your personal and/or professional development here in person and in Auckland.
