Hi, I’m Rachel.
I’m a trauma therapist who has trained around the world, to bring the best therapies and methods to my clients. You can read about me and my qualifications and how I work with trauma to get to know me.
I’m accepting new clients and would love to work with you. Reach out for a free 15 minute consultation to see if we are a good fit to work with each other (thats very important for us both).
How I think about trauma.
A trauma is a shock that gets stuck in our system, it continues to have physical, emotional, cognitive (thought), and relational consequences. This is a special kind of shock that affects the very deep parts of our brain (brain stem and mid-brain) that our conscious brain has no access to, so we often feel bad about ourselves for having the shock and then not being able to overcome it using all our usual knowledge and skills and our self esteem and relationships can suffer.
Often we have more than one shock in our system, from being very young to the present day, sometimes we have a huge amount of the same kind of shock and we get burnt-out or exhausted, sometimes it is an attachment shock, like a parent left and now a relationship has ended or someone has died and the impacts are all felt at once.
We are often very resilient and able to keep going. Eventually everyone has enough shocks and carrying the weight of them will cause us to be stuck and develop bad habits. These can range from compulsive behaviours and thoughts or just a feeling of being stuck under black clouds and unable to enjoy life.
Each of us are different and complex beings and each way into and our of an overwhelmed system is different, but there are empowering ways to safely get to know the deep parts of your brain and give them some of the care they need. My role is to be your guide and companion as you find yourself again.
Below are answers to some common questions that I get, but feel free to message me with any questions that you have. I usually get back the same day.
All the best on your journey,
Common questions
In person or online?
I work primarily online with my clients. I have a global client base with clients in countries from the USA, New Zealand to Vietnam, so physical office space doesn’t make much sense. This also allows me to keep my fees as low as possible.
What is a free 15minute consultation?
This is just some time for us to get to know each other and you can ask me anything that you want. I’ll let you know how I work with trauma and we can cover the basics, logistics, and if you want, find a time to work with each other. There is no pressure to book a session.
How frequent should we meet?
This is entirely up to you. Therapy is a personal journey, I aim to let you set the schedule and decide when to start and stop. We can discuss these options in our consultation. There is no need or pressure to commit to a large number of sessions.
